Thrane & Thrane launches SAILOR Fleet33 and mini-M terminals

Thrane & Thrane, the world’s leading manufacturer of Inmarsat satellite communication terminals, now offers the maritime community a SAILOR Fleet33 terminal and a SAILOR mini-M terminal. The two terminals will both be launched at SMM in Hamburg September 28, 2004.

Christian Lund Hammer, Vice President of Thrane & Thrane Sales & Marketing says: “With the introduction of a SAILOR Fleet33 terminal and a SAILOR mini-M terminal Thrane & Thrane further strengthens its position as the world’s leading provider of maritime communication equipment. All over the world the SAILOR name is known and recognized for its superior quality and performance. With the launch of the two new SAILOR terminals we can now offer our maritime distributors and customers a complete SAILOR product portfolio that meets virtually all communication needs. Today no other manufacturer within maritime communication can match our strong product program”.

The SAILOR Fleet33 terminal is Thrane & Thrane’s smallest and lightest maritime Fleet terminal. The terminal comes with a small and compact antenna, only 35 cm in diameter and with a weight of around 4 kg. The small antenna size, the light terminal and the low-cost, simple installation makes the SAILOR Fleet33 a very attractive solution for private yachts, coast guard vessels and fishing boats.

The SAILOR Fleet33 offers global telephony and 9.6 kbps fax and data services. The terminal also supports the Mobile Packet Data Service (MPDS), which allows users to remain always online since they are charged only for the amount of data sent and received.

The SAILOR mini-M terminal is one of Thrane & Thrane’s most popular products for private yachts, coasters, and fishing boats. It operates like a standard cellular phone, yet with a reach that spans the oceans. Due to its small size and low weight it is easy to use and install.

The SAILOR mini-M is a perfect communication tool, handling telephone, fax, e-mail and Internet messaging in a cost-effective manner. With its lightweight and compact transceiver and antenna, the SAILOR mini-M is easy to install. The antenna is only 24 cm high, has a diameter of just 21 cm and weighs a mere 2.2 kg/11 lbs, making it the world’s smallest automatic 2-way maritime tracking antenna.

The launch of the two new SAILOR terminals is the first direct result of Thrane & Thrane’s acquisition of EuroCom Industries earlier this year. EuroCom Industries is a leading supplier of maritime communication equipment for all types of vessels. Its products are sold throughout the world under the two internationally recognized brands SAILOR and SKANTI.

Thrane & Thrane has for more than two decades cooperated closely with EuroCom Industries and EuroCom Industries has in recent years successfully marketed a number of Thrane & Thrane products, including the Inmarsat-C, mini-C and Fleet terminals.
