Thrane & Thrane sponsors the German expedition heritage cutter “Dagmar Aaen”, commanded by the recognized expeditionary Mr. Arved Fuchs.
 “Dagmar Aaen” and Mr. Arved Fuchs has many years of expedition experience, primarily in polar regions including the Arctic such the North West Passage, North East Passage, wintering around Greenland, as well as Antarctica. Crew members include scientists and every expedition aim not just exploration works but also scientific and environmental research. “Dagmar Aaen” expeditions has appeared at major German TV broadcasters as well as in international satellite and cable networks.
The cutter “Dagmar Aaen” was built in 1931 at N.P. Jensen Shipyard in Esbjerg, Denmark. The vessel was designed and used for many years for North Atlantic and Greenland navigation. During the spring of 2008, “Dagmar Aaen” has undergone extensive restoration at C.J. Skibs-og Bådebyggeri shipyard in Egernsund, Denmark, readying it for future polar navigation and expeditions.
 Thrane & Thrane has supplied an extensive range of SAILOR communication products, ensuring “Dagmar Aaen” voice, broadband data and safety communication for sea area A4 navigation, that includes the polar regions. “Dagmar Aaen” is equipped with a SAILOR GMDSS system including SAILOR Inmarsat mini-C, SAILOR RT5022 VHF DSC, SAILOR System 5000 MF/HF 150W, SAILOR SP3500 Portable VHF radios, SAILOR SART II and Epirp, as well as SAILOR 250 FleetBroadband and SAILOR SC4000 Iridium.
