An extensive line-up of cutting edge SAILOR systems backed up by Thrane & Thrane’s global service program - the On Board Service Center network – ensured teams and race organisers the very best communications solutions at their disposal.
Supplying a complete range of SAILOR satellite and radio communication products, Thrane & Thrane enabled reliable global communication enhancing the daily safety at sea. Each boat was equipped with:
- 1 x SAILOR 500 FleetBroadband,
- 1 x SAILOR Fleet 33,
- 2 x SAILOR Inmarsat-Cs,
- 1 SAILOR MF/HF 150W SSB,
- 1 x VHF DSC Class D Radio,
- Several SAILOR VHF portable radios
Additionally, Volvo Ocean Race officials and race umpires carried SAILOR VHF Scrambler portable radios for secure and confidential communication during race starts and in-port races, and sets of EXPLORER 700 BGAN terminals were supplied for Volvo Ocean Race’s own media crew.
