And via an IP router the SAILOR Fleet77 terminal can integrate the vessel with onshore management systems via the Web, aside from providing e-mail and Internet services to crew and management. The system is accompanied by user-friendly software, which enables simple configuration from a standard PC.
Fast and cost-efficient data
With the SAILOR Fleet77 terminal you get data transfer speeds up to 128 kbps via ISDN. You may choose either the MPDS (Mobile Packet Data Service) protocol where you are charged for the amount of data you send or receive or ISDN where charges are per minute. MPDS is the most economic and convenient solution for e-mail, small and medium size file transfer, LAN, VPN and Internet. ISDN provides a high capacity channel with a constant data stream and is usually preferable for up- or downloading large files, videoconferencing and high quality voice.
Compact and easy to maintain
The tracking antenna is 88 cm high, has a diameter of just 84 cm and weighs only 27 kg. It is line replaceable and features a bottom hatch for easy service and maintenance access. The transceiver itself is a sturdy construction made for maritime use.

The Volvo Ocean Race 2005-2006 is the world’s toughest sailing-boat race. Covering more than 31.000 nautical miles the participating teams traverse the globe at world record speeds. The race has continued to push the borders in sailing boat design and technology, including inboard communications and safety. This year this tendency continues. On board all ships is a SAILOR Fleet77, a SAILOR Fleet33 as well as two SAILOR Inmarsat-C terminals, which enable the ship crews to communicate to a hitherto unknown degree. Media coverage – without which the race could not exist – comes much more alive with 20 minutes of video footage per week transmitted via satellite to the world’s television viewers.
